Meet The Filmmakers: War Horse

Tonight my good friend (also a Claire) and I were lucky enough to get a seat at one of Apple, Regent Street's in store events - Meet The Filmmakers: War Horse. A Q&A hosted by Chris Hewitt, talking to Richard Curtis and Tom Hiddleston about the film which is released today. They talked in depth about the realities and sincerity of being part of a war film, working with the 14 horses that played 'Joey' throughout the entire process, and the excitement of going to set with Steven Spielberg every day.

See trailer below:

iJoined The Club

Today I finally upgraded my contract to an iphone 4. Not the latest toy I know, but still a step in a new direction for me (formally a Blackberry lover). Now I've got a new excuse to take a trip to Cath Kidston and buy a whirlwind of accessories to protect this little baby.

Birdsong

It's been a while, but this evening my good friend Kat and I popped along to the Princess Anne Theatre at BAFTA to watch a screening of Birdsong, part 1, the BBC One adaptation of the novel written by Sebastian Faulks. I haven't read the book since I studied it in College (don't I feel old now), but it was extremely interesting to watch it play out on screen all these years later.

This was followed by a Q&A with director Philip Martin, actress Clemence Poesy (as pictured above), actor Joseph Mawle, and writer Abi Morgan (The Hour, The Iron Lady, Shame) - is there ANYTHING this woman can't do? If part 1 doesn't have you in tears (which it did me), apparently part 2 will have you in floods. It is absolutely beautiful.

Words Words Words

Tomorrow, Selfridges Oxford Street launch their brand new programme 'Words Words Words', transforming their ever diverse Ultralounge into a Library.

"The library will provide a unique interactive space to become fully immersed in the topic, from specially curated ranges of inspirational books to fascinating classes and lectures from The Idler Academy and It's Nice That".

If, like me, you haven't started work this year yet or don't have an average working schedule from Monday - Friday, you'll be able to attend quite a few. See here for the Full Programme. The events kick off tomorrow at 12:30pm with Robert Louis Stevenson's classic 'The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde'.

Personally, I'm looking forward to these:

Thursday 9th February - 6:30-7:30pm - It's Nice That Talk: Words As Images

Diamonds Are Forever

After breakfast with the Stylist today, we took a stroll to Southbank to browse the annual jewellery exhibition 'Dazzle' (7th November- 8th January), at The National Theatre. While it was a short but sweet visit as the space was quite small, the highlight was without a doubt, Northern Irish designer Ros Millar. She displayed pieces from her collections;

The Curse Of Skins

Although I'm part of the minority of people that dislike Skins, the trailer (as per usual) for Series 6 does have a pretty good soundtrack:

Blast From The Past

Today my friend uploaded some photos from the Blackberry photo booth at House of Holland S/S11 after party, September 2010. I'd forgotten they even existed!
